We have been making fine furniture for more than 25 years using many types of timber and finishes. Now we are
putting our energy and passion for wood into creating new and exciting clock designs for the modern world.
Here is a short description of the work involved in processing the rough sawn boards to the finished product.
When the timber is delivered, the first thing we check is how straight the boards are, often there will be twists and
warps due to the inbuilt stresses whilst drying. Then by the lengthy process of sawing, planing and
thicknessing we get to the sizes that we require, leaving a good 20% of the boards as saw dust!
Even this is not wasted, either used in our woodburning stove or on the compost heap. Where possible we
use reclaimed timber (you would be amazed at how much hardwood gets thrown out when offices
are updated, but we are not complaining!)
This is the time when any special grain figuring becomes apparent, these boards are put aside for use in our
Finegrain collection. We glue, screw and assemble the clock bodies, then with careful sanding we achieve the
surface finish that is required, then sealing the wood with natural shellac we use good old fashioned elbow
grease to apply a fine wax polish to give a lovely satin finish, finally fitting the clock movement.

Wood is naturally very resiliant and will last for many generations with just a little care and attention,
all the time gaining that patina that only comes with age!
The occassional polish with a good furniture wax is all that is needed.

We use high quality SEIKO quartz clock movements that operate with AA size batteries.

Our Clocks are fairly heavy, for our floorstanding clocks we recommend a strap between clock and wall to prevent
any possibility of your clock being knocked over, and for our wall clocks a good fixing into the wall with
appropriate fittings, if you are in any doubt ask a handyperson to do it for you. We include the basic fittings
which will be fine for most situations. If all else fails give us a call and we will try to help.

The environment concerns us all, so we are careful to use only timber that is fully authenticated by our suppliers.

about timber and other important issues and we are always on the lookout for good quality reclaimed timber.
If you love wood as much as we do, you will enjoy looking at the Woodland trust website of which we are members.
Here you can have new trees planted and dedicated to a loved one and of course the more trees we plant
the better for everyone!
